Project Description

Everything about this project was a joy to make until I got to hanging the odd shaped mirror. I wanted someone to make a set of brass pivots that would allow it to be mounted between the two stiles. Finally I found a guy in New York, the owner of Mancini Brass, to do it. I first sent him a drawing showing the mount to be vertical. Normally these things are used on doors, and he couldn’t grasp my idea. More phone calls, more drawings, and finally I sent him a picture.

He suddenly grasped it, and was so moved that he sent me two sets of pivots probably worth $100 a set and said “No charge.” He said he felt he wanted to pass on this kind gesture with the idea that someday I might do something similar for someone else.
